Breed Traits

Mazie and Tilly enjoying each others company

I was intrigued when Eric asked the question "what motivates Mazie?" and that's when I had to look into her breed traits.... how they are displayed in daycare and what Enrichment could enhance her time in daycare.

Mazie and Tilly both look similar to Carpathians Shepherd Dogs. This breed is known for being fierce Guardians, brave, intelligent, loyal but also playful and devoted to their family group and/or flock they guard or protect. Other traits include being calm, balanced, very aloof and indifferent at times. This is because they are watching and conserving their energy for the real danger!

In Daycare, we try to include them in our Enrichment stuff....and occasionally they give us the pleasure of their company. Usually, Mazie lies on her favourite place which is on a platform. From there she surveys the area and barks to warn me of arrivals and walkers on the nearby footpath. Tilly likes to sing and dig a lot.

... after more reading, I found this:

"The Carpathian Shepherd Dog are motivated by their family group, much more than food and toys" and "it is necessary to have a fenced area as they like to roam on their territory."....this is what she does when in daycare.
